2022 AFL Betting Tips – Round 2

AFL Patrick Cripps

Round 1 of the 2022 AFL season was a cracker, and it’s fantastic to have footy back again!

The Blues were the stand out team last week as they unleashed a rejuvenated midweek to roll the Tigers, as we landed one of our most confident AFL betting tips of the round.

The Blues are back in action on Friday night against the Dogs and with Bailey Smith sidelined, the Blues can certainly push them all the way. With Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow starting to build up their match fitness, that’s where the Blues might have the edge.

Friday night’s match will be all about Buddy and his quest for his 1000th goal. Can he kick a bag in front of a rowdy home town Sydney crowd? This will be a sensational game against the Cats. A true test for the Swans as both teams appear to be premiership contenders in 2022. Patrick Dangerfield was immense last week, but he might have to carry the load himself, while the Swans young brigade are starting to mature and might give the Swans a narrow advantage.

The upset of the round might come from the Bombers who host the Lions. It’s a game that the Lions are expected to win, and that’s usually when Essendon turn up to screw over everyone’s AFL tipping! The Bombers were woeful last week, but on paper they are a talented outfit. Draper is improving in the ruck and with Merrett, Parish and Shiel at his feet, it’s a strong on-ball brigade. Having Jake Stringer back in the side this week is a big plus as he can drive forward and hit the scoreboard. They will need to stop Lachie Neale, but if the Dons get on a roll then watch out!

There’s three evenly-matched games on Sunday which provide good AFL Round 2 betting opportunities. The Kangaroos are favoured against West Coast, despite the Eagles bringing in a number of talented players. The travel aspect always seems to undo the Eagles and away from home, you’d think it’s a great chance for the Joeys.

The Giants and Tigers should be a great match, but without Dusty Martin, the Tigers look vulnerable. The Giants pushed the Swans all the way last week and their talented midfield might be too strong.

Finally the Dockers will host the Saints to finish off the round. Freo are still without Nat Fyfe but Brayshaw, Cerong and Mundy look a strong midfield unit, and they will be much better with big Sean Darcy back in the side to feed them first use of the ball. If they can subdue Jack Steele, then the Dockers should win!
