We’re back with our preview and betting tips for Round 13 of the 2022 AFL season. It’s the second of the bye rounds with six games spread over the five days of the June long weekend for the Queen’s Birthday.
The Round 13 action kicks off Thursday night with Richmond hosting Port Adelaide at the MCG. A vital game for both sides – some might call it an “eight-point game”. The winner will still be in the hunt for September action while life will be tough for the loser. The Tigers are 11.5 point favourites and have the home ground advantage which should be enough to cover the line.
Essendon and Carlton headline on Friday night in a blockbuster between two traditional rivals. The Bombers are struggling big time and the Blues should be too strong.
The other interesting match of the round is on Monday where Collingwood and Melbourne will clash in the traditional Queen’s Birthday match. Once again, the day will be raising awareness to Fight MND and the amazing work by Neale Daniher and the Big Freeze.
Melbourne are coming off rare back-to-back losses which will see them hurting. Not only that, but the off-field antics of some of their players have been a major distraction. Can they bounce back or are the wheels falling off? The Pies will fancy their chances of another upset after getting over the line against the Hawks last week to sneak into the Top 8. It was a wet weather slog so that might’ve taken something out of their legs. If it’s wet again, they’ll be keen to make it a scrap.
