2021 AFL Round 22 Betting Tips

AFL Toby Greene

Another tough week of AFL betting is in the books. Good luck if you got all nine correct in Round 21 after the Giants knocked off the Cats at home, the Suns ended Carlton’s finals hopes, the Saints stunned the Swans and the Bombers kept their season alive by knocking off the Bulldogs. Carnage!

Onwards and upwards into AFL Round 22 action which sees a blockbuster match on Friday night that will produce a finals-like atmosphere. It’s the Tigers up against the Giants and it’s all on the line! The winner will probably play finals and the loser will probably miss out.

The Giants were great last week as they caused the upset of the year when they defeated the Cats on their home turf. Can they back it up again this week? A lot will come down to whether skipper Toby Greene can get off on his striking charge at the tribunal. His sentence has been reduced from two matches to one, with GWS set to appeal at the time of writing. If he gets off, it will be a huge boost for the Giants and if they play like they did last week, then they have every chance to win. However if we can hang any weight on the Tigers being one of the great teams, then surely the reigning premiers leave it all on the line with a finals spot on the line. The Giants are 9.5 point underdogs and while that’s tempting, a finals-like atmosphere often creates low scoring contests, so happy to tickle the unders on a points total of 163.5.

A lot of the other matches for Round 22 look a little one-sided, although as we’ve seen recently, anything is possible. The AFL is also yet to confirm venues for two of the matches as they patiently await some news from the Queensland Government, so betting markets aren’t available for those matches as yet.
