What a fantastic weekend we had last week. We nailed our Round 19 betting tips with a perfect 9/9 with our AFL tips and we landed both of our recommended betting tips without a sweat! Let’s keep the momentum rolling on for Round 20 tips below.
After a back and forth with the Round 20 fixture due to border restrictions, the AFL have settled on St.Kilda and Carlton for Friday night. It’s not the greatest game in the world but one we’re interested in from a betting perspective where we’re pretty keen on the Saints. They have been really good over the last month or so, and have only fallen in tough contests against the Power and away to the Eagles. Finals are still a reality if things go right for them. Compare that form to Carlton who lost last week to the bottom-placed Kangaroos in demoralising defeat. Finals are now out of the question and it will be very hard for them to get up for the last four weeks of the season.
The Saints have the edge all over the park here. Their midfield have been pretty good, with Jack Steele leading the way, Luke Dunstan racking up possessions and Zak Jones returning to the side to provide a hard edge. Rowan Marshall will be back this week to support Paddy Ryder in the ruck, while Max King was awesome last week plucking eight contested marks and six goals.
How are Carlton going to be able to contain that fire power?
The Blues sadly missed Harry McKay last week, and if the Coleman Medal leader is out again this week, then it’s hard to see where the goals will come from. Tom De Koning is an improving ruck, but they really lack support and height of any kind up forward. Patrick Cripps was forced to play as a key forward while Jack Silvagni has been parading as a backup ruckman.
If Sam Walsh can be contained then its hard to see how Carlton can get anywhere near the Saints. The early -10.5 line looks awfully generous and we’ll be smashing that this week.
The Saturday games look pretty straight forward, with the Essendon vs Sydney match an important one for finals. On Sunday, we’re keen to back Richmond to get the job done against Fremantle. The Tigers were rocked last week against the Cats, and while they are off the mark against the contenders, they are still a threat against the mid-tier teams. The Tigers must win here if they want to play finals, so I expect them to come out snarling. The trip to Perth for the match is the only concern.
Fremantle have been pretty poor over the last few weeks against the Cats and Swans. They just aren’t up to finals standard and I think they’ll be found out here again. Nat Fyfe’s shoulder is hanging by a thread and they’ve also lost Michael Walters to a hamstring injury. It’s hard to see how they can keep pace with the Tigers speed in the middle and their firepower up forward. Tigers to cover!
